Contemplative Prayer Practices
As Moot is a new monastic community, prayer and in particular contemplative forms of prayer are vital part of our spiritual rhythm of life. Contemplative forms of prayer are very old and imaginative approaches to the encountering of God. This approach goes beyond mere head knowledge about God and instead promotes a direct, heartfelt awareness of the length and breadth, the height and depth of the love of Christ (Cf Eph 3:18-19). Mystic consciousness, whether mild or intense, is a characteristic of religious experience and lies at the heart of all genuine Christianity.
In Moot we have promoted a number of approaches that we use in our cycle of daily prayer, which are listed here in audio/written form if you would like to use these on their own as a point of prayer.
