Core Team
The Core Team is responsible for overseeing the development of the Host Project (sometimes called the Lounge Project). This is an essential core element of the whole renewal of mission and ministry at St Mary Aldermary. In a new monastic community such as Moot, participation of the whole community is expected in the maintaining and running of the church. The Core Team are specifically responsible for developing different aspects of the Host Project. Currently all our Core Team are consultants bar Pete. We aim to employ all those who are currently consultants as soon as it is possible for us to do so financially. So who is in this team.
IAN MOBSBY
As the Priest-in-Charge, Ian vversees the core team and acts as manager and director. Ian is responsible for supporting each team member in their work role, and giving overall strategic direction to the team and their work.
AARON KENNEDY
Is responsible for the development of the Host Project cafe, bookshop and other items for sale, as well as leading the Host Project. Aaron is also specifically responsible for supervising all the volunteers and eventual paid staff who will be working in the Host Cafe. Aaron is responsible for overseeing activities and events focused on Orthopraxis – ‘right living’. Aaron has completed under-graduate and post-graduate studies in Theology and inter-religious dialogue. Currently Aaron works Monday to Friday 9.10am to 2.10pm
VANESSA ELSTON
Is responsible for planning and implementing mission and evangelism events including Serum that seek to open up the spiritual landscape to those who have little or no experience of the church or Christianity. These include regular courses and events that we hold in Lent and Advent, and other local one off events in the Bow Lane area. Vanessa takes a lead in helping us to assess the spiritual and wellbeing needs of those who live in and work in the area, and helps us keep a focus on being missional through hospitality and generosity. Vanessa is studying for a BA in Theology with a background in teaching, the arts and drama. Currently Vanessa works every other Weds pm alternating with Weds evening, some mondays, thurs am and pm.
PETER JOHNSON
Peter oversees our weekly meditation group on Wednesday evenings, and will be working with Vanessa thinking how we can respond with some form of event around spirituality on a Wednesday lunch time. Peter also oversees our training around Orthopathy or ‘wellbeing’. Peter is a major contributor to the overall development of spiritual growth around self acceptance and self love, key to the whole monastic focus of loving God, loving yourself and loving others. Peter is a qualified counsellor, trainer and nurse. Peter is around most wednesdays from midday, covenanting a day of his time to Moot.
LUCINDA BEESLEY
Lucinda is a vital element in the core team, helping us set up systems and reviewing our operations and overseeing some of the church administration needs. Lucinda has a rich experience of working in leading strategic and operational developments for national governmental and business initiatives, so we are extremely fortunate to have her with us. As our enterprise initiatives develop at St Mary Aldermary, Lucinda will be increasing taking a lead in our business and systems development. Lucinda currently works Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and some Thursday and Friday afternoons.
JOEL BAKER
Joel has recently joined the team responsible for image and publicity design of our website, flyers, posters and print-to-paper. Joel is in his final year of studies as a training graphic designer, and has a history of involvement in creative and experimental forms of church including Grace in Ealing and the Greenbelt Festival. Joel works flexible hour.
JAMES VINCENT
James is a virtual member of the Core Team studying at the University of Kent. As our communications officer, James is responsible for maintaining a virtual email, news letter, and event communications strategy. He works closely with the Core Team to ensure that all events are communicated effectively within available resources. This role works particularly closely with the Web Master and Publicity Designer. James works flexible hours.
